The Future Homes Standard… What does it mean for Affordable Housing?

12 May, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

A team of industry colleagues formed a Roundtable Discussion Panel a year ago, with the aim of proactively formulating a solution to delivering the Future Homes standard on Affordable Housing Developments.

The Future Homes Standard is a step introduced by the Government to achieving net zero emissions by 2050 and is to be enforced in 2025 as a requirement for all new domestic buildings.

The Roundtable Panel will discuss their findings around viability, buildability, design, capital costs, renewable technologies, market conditions and energy efficiency/output, compared to current Building Regulations standards.

The Panel will also present a Future Homes development proposal, for which it is intended to deliver a pilot project in the North West in the coming months.

With the imminent Building Regulations Part L, F, O and S uplifts in June 2022, this is an excellent opportunity to find out how the standard can be delivered on housing projects today.
