Welcome to the ninth annual North West Regional Construction Awards. Tonight we come together to celebrate all that is excellent in construction here in the North West. All of the award categories are designed to find, reward and celebrate the best people. These are the people who are demonstrating how collaboration and innovation are characteristics of the region. Their efforts will act as encouragement to investors and policy makers that the potential for a construction power-house already exists – delivering both economic and social value to the region.
The University of Salford, as the hub for Constructing Excellence in the North-West, has collaborated on the delivery of this event in partnership with Clear. The University sees a clear alignment between the national Constructing Excellence themes of Collaborative Working, Procurement, Client Benchmarking, Social Value, BIM, Finance and Funding and it’s own programme of research, teaching and industry support.
In addition to these awards, we are looking forward to the second Construction Summit (North West) that takes place on the 16th July (under the auspices of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce). For an intensive programme of local activities throughout the year, we are grateful to the independent network of Constructing Excellence Best Practice Clubs in Cheshire, Lancashire, Liverpool and Manchester.
These awards are run collaboratively with the Constructing Excellence hubs from all of the English Regions and Wales. The national awards will take place in London on the 23rd October 2015. We wish all of the winners tonight every success on that occasion too.
We would like to thank all of the award entrants, judges, sponsors and those of you here tonight for making the awards possible. As we enter the 10th year of the awards, we extend an invitation to you to help re-new and re-fresh Constructing Excellence in the North West to help the region grasp the opportunities and tackle the challenges ahead.
